The body endures a lot through 9 months of pregnancy. Finally you deliver and when you think it’s all over, the demand of being a new moms starts having a toll on you. Your body also faces significant changes after delivery of your baby. During this postpartum period, your body begins to heal from delivery of your baby, re-gains it’s strength and you begin to get your pre-pregnancy body back. Women may however experience a variety of postpartum problems, some more serious than others.
Common postpartum problems
Some of the common postpartum problems include the following :
- postpartum hemorrhage which is excessive bleeding after delivery
- postpartum infections including uterine, bladder and kidney infections
- perineal pain
- hemorrhoids
- constipation
- vaginal discharge
- urinary and fecal incontinence
- hair loss
- breastfeeding problems such as clogged ducts, mastitis or swollen breast
- little or no interest in sex or discomfort during intercourse
- baby blues or postpartum depression
- difficulty getting your pre – pregnancy body back
- backache due to weakened abdominal muscles after carrying your baby for 9 months
