You and your partner may be trying to get  use to having  a baby in the house. Having a baby can be overwhelming and put an enormous strain on you and your partner. You may both be nervous about being parents. There are certain steps you can take to make parenting enjoyable and reduce the stress having a baby puts on your relationship.

What you and your partner can do to care for your relationship

 
You can take these steps to help take care of your relationship

  • take care of your baby together. Read to your baby and take baby classes together
  • get help from your partner. Do not do everything by yourself
  • let your partner know how you feel. Talk to each other. Let each other know when you are hurt or frustrated
  • make time for yourself. Get help from family, friends or a nanny to care for your baby, then go on a date night or just for a walk or anything that involves just the two of you
  • ask your health care provider when it is okay to have sex again. He will usually recommending waiting 4 to 6 weeks to have sex again. This is to give your body the time it needs to heal from labor and delivery
