Heat rash is common in babies and infants. They  occur during the hot and humid weather and results from blockage of sweat gland openings. They are not serious. They only indicate that the baby is too warm. Overheating can lead to heat exhaustion and heat stroke which are fatal conditions. Research has also shown that the baby being too warm during sleep can cause SIDS.

They are commonly seen in skin folds of the neck and the upper chest, arms , legs and diaper area. Look out for tiny red bumps in areas that are usually moist.
