Vaporizers and humidifiers

Vaporizers and humidifiers help moisten the mouth and throat when  breathing dry, heated indoor air of the winter months. You may prefer the mist from  a humidifier because of risk of burns from steam vaporizers. It is important to keep vaporizers and humidifiers out of reach of babies and toddlers.

You can use a shallow pot of water as a substitute for a vaporizer or humidifier and avoid molds. However  you have to be sure to keep the pan out of reach of children. Do not put it on the floor where a child can easily fall in. It is very easy for a child to drown in a shallow pot of water.

NOTE

If you use a vaporizer you have to remember the following :

  • Change the water and clean the inside of the machine daily . You have to do this for humidifiers too.
  • Don’t add medicine to vaporizer water. This can cause spasms of all the large breathing tubes ( bronchus)
