The American Academy of Pediatrics strongly recommends that children who are being transported to school travel in age appropriate and properly secured child restraints systems in all motor vehicles.

They believe that all new school buses should have safety restraints. Parents are encouraged to work with school district to ensure that every new bus is equipped with lap/shoulder seat belts restraints  that can also accommodate a car seat, booster seat and harness system.

It is also important that school districts provide  height and  weight appropriate  car seats and restraint system  for all children of preschool age , these system  includes  a booster seat with a three point belt.

When school districts have policies on seat belt use, children tend to behave better  and are less likely to distract the driver.
