The 4B’s of bedtime
The 4 B’s of bedtime have been proven to be one of the most effective routines for bedtime success for both babies and older children .
- Bathing : A relaxing, soothing bath before bedtime can calm children and let them know its time for sleep.
- Brushing teeth : It is a good habit of having a toothbrush be the last thing in your child’s mouth at night other than perhaps a pacifier during the first year of life. This is a good habit for healthier teeth
- Books : Reading the child’s favorite book every night can help the child relax. The book can serve as a cue that its time to cuddle and go to bed
- Bedtime : After a soothing bedtime routine, it is important to let children fall asleep on their own. It may be challenging at first but eventually the child will learn to fall asleep independently.
