If you’re still reading this, you’re now in the category of rare pregnancies, since few moms-to-be make it to pregnancy week 42 without delivering. However, this is going to be the last week of your pregnancy anyways. First, it’s super-rare for a pregnancy to go beyond the mark of week 42 and moreover, your doctor would probably suggest a labor induction by now. Don’t worry about the baby as long as you have the OB/GYN monitoring him/her closely.

How’s the Baby Doing At Pregnancy Week 42?

At pregnancy week 42, your baby will grow at a tedious pace so you can rest assured that they won’t be too big to deliver. The baby would still be around the size of a jackfruit and doing just fine. The skin of the baby might get a bit dry by now but you won’t have to worry much about it. Since 98% of babies are born within the 42-week term, you are really close by now.

The Symptoms At Pregnancy Week 42

The symptoms you will experience this week would be exactly like those you have been experiencing for the past months but with more intensity. You will also feel more stressed but try to keep calm and keep in mind that your baby is safe in there.

What to Do?

Go to your last prenatal visit to the OB/GYN and if you are still not showing signs of labor, start considering an induction seriously. You should record the fetal kick counts to check if there is something unusual going on. If you are not still in labor by the end of this week, your doctor would opt for an induction for sure.
